NVQ Football Coaching programme could be the course you are looking for. It is aimed at students with a keen interest in sport, particularly football. You will be expected to take part in projects such as setting up clubs, organizing tournaments, promoting school activities etc. Whilst the majority of the programme is practical you will be expected to build a portfolio of evidence and complete a range of tasks to demonstrate evidence for your qualification.
Course Elements
Personal Development:
Personal development is an important element of the course and students are encouraged to take a proactive approach to improving every aspect of their coaching abilities.
They are tutored in the following key areas:
• Small-sided games
• Phases of play
• Individual skills and technique development
• Knowledge of tactics
• Sport specific fitness training
• Practical coaching
Work-Related Learning:
This gives students a practical understanding of how to relate coaching sessions to children and important skills such as group management, projects and gaining work based experience to include:
• Teaching and coaching children aged 4-16
• Refereeing matches
• Coaching programmes for different year groups
• Communication skills
• Course administration
• Planning and evaluating sessions.
• Organising festivals/tournaments
• Liaising with key personnel
